The Morgan Dollar was minted in 90% silver and 10% copper. The coins have a diameter of 38.1 mm and a weight of 26.73 grams. The total silver content for an uncirculated coin is 0.7744 ounces.
Coins were produced from 1878 to 1904. Production resumed for a final year in 1921. During this run coins were produced at several different US Mint facilities which included Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, Carson City, and New Orleans.
